Country Kitchen was started, by Jane Wilson, in 1970. It all happened when some neighbours required catering for a small gallery opening. After which other people asked her to cook for them when they were entertaining and had no time. The idea of supplying food from her well stocked freezer was then born.
A list of dishes was made up and the name 'Country Kitchen' was registered as a business. The list of dishes was sent to friends and neighbours. There appeared to be a demand for this type of service, and within a year other people were drawn in to help.
In 1975 extra staff joined the business to help with the cooking, catering and administration. Country Kitchen also started to take on larger functions for which they prepared food especially for the occasion and served this if required. Soon people were asking if Country Kitchen could cater for wedding receptions - so they too were taken on. Since then the organisation of large weddings has been a large part of the business in the summer months. With so much experience, Country Kitchen can advise and help with finding the best marquee, location for the wedding, photographer, flower arrangers, musicians etc. Country Kitchen can help with all aspects of a wedding. We specialise in Country House weddings and are very happy to give as much advice as required.
The Freezer Shop is also an important part of the business - there is a great demand for the 'home-cooked-family and dinner party food' and this keeps the cooks busy all year round. The shop is open every weekday, except Monday and only by appointment on Saturday; , with 10 freezers full of home cooked meals for dinner parties and family entertaining. It also has a good selection of kitchen equipment and gifts.
